The
Living Room & Empire Room as shown are in the original
part of the
house, dating back to the late 1600's and furnished with antiques.
They and the Gold room comprise the core of the main building,
the "double
parlors" of a classic full Cape, overlooking the fireplace.
Many of our guest prefer to be seated in these areas.
The
large table in the foreground has been called "Tip'sTable" since
Tip O'Neill, when he was Speaker of the House always requested
that table; Julia Child celebrated several of her Birthdays there,
including her 80th with Charlie Gibson. These two rooms, the
Living room and Gold room are the perfect venue for groups numbering
between 14 and twenty-five: private, gracious with an out door
garden area for cocktails in the Summer months, or fireside cocktails
in the Fall.
The
Terrace dining room (below), our largest, overlooks the back
lawns and flower gardens. Perfect for group bookings on a
space available basis, it has an outdoor brick patio with
a market cart that doubles as a bar. There are interior French
doors draped with curtains that can be closed for entertaining
private dinners/or luncheons numbering from 35 to 50 people.
